Technical and Economic Research on Energy Saving Conductors for UHVDC Project

At present, The ordinary ACSR are widely used in DC projects, and the DC resistance is relatively high. Under different operation modes, the power loss on transmission lines can even reach 15%. In order to maximize economic and social benefits, it is necessary to study and analyze the energy saving characteristics of energy saving conductors. According to the technical principle of energy saving conductors and combining with the CSG UHVDC transmission lines from west to east calculated, compared the electrical performance, mechanical performance and economy of different types of energy saving conductors and ordinary ACSR. The results show that compared with ordinary ACSR, all kinds of energy saving conductors have better energy efficiency, low life-cycle cost, and better economic and social benefits. So energy saving conductors can be applied in the new UHVDC project.
