Gender -based economic inequalities, such as the gender pay gap and the gender gap in access to positions of power, still persist, and several institutions are working to address them in an effort to achieve effective equality. The identification and quantification of these inequalities is achieved through simple and composed indicators, which serve as a political tool. This paper reviews the main international gender (in)equality indices, focusing on the dimensions of 'pay' and 'power'. From an initial set of 63 indexes, 18 that included both dimensions were analyzed in depth. The available data show that the weight of the power dimension is significantly higher than the pay dimension (30% compared to 11.5%), although there is a high heterogeneity between the indices.
