摘要
Intellectual property rights (IPR) are provided to an author by the government to protect his intellectual credits towards society. It grants the inventor an exclusive right for a certain period of time for proper use of his creation. Intellectual property includes patents, trademarks, and copyrights. Since last few years, many controversies have raised on biological patents. Patenting of extracts from indigenous plants, animals and organisms, already known to indigenous people, has been called Biopiracy. Still, people are not aware in terms of what invention or the technology can be protected/patented therefore present review deals with the knowledge that gives us the insight to handle with our intellectual property.
