摘要
Cumulative neuroaxonal damage is the main cause of disability in multiple sclerosis (MS), although it may remain clinically silent for many years. In this article, the authors describe their research study measuring serum levels of the neurofilament light chain in patients with MS to assess how they correlated to disease severity and degree of disability in an Egyptian population. They demonstrate how serum levels of the neurofilament light chain are associated with clinical and MRI‐related measures of disease activity, supporting their use as an easily accessible, low cost and non‐invasive biomarker.
