From Aberrant Neurodevelopment to Neurodegeneration: Insights into the Hub Gene Associated with Autism and Alzheimer's Disease

• Shared signature of immune dysregulation was found in early-onset neurodevelopmental disorder ASD and late-onset neurodegenerative disorder AD. • The brains from the ASD and AD model of mice were significantly immune cell infiltrated. • Five differentially expressed immune-related genes were identified as common diagnostic markers for ASD and AD. • MSH2 and IFIT2 are potential markers for identifying individuals at risk before onset of AD.
