The effect of video education on the risk of development of venous thrombo embolia in the lower extremity after coronary bypass surgery: a quasi-experimental study

Objective: This study was conducted as a quasi-experimental study to evaluate the effect of video training on the prevention of the risk of developing venous thromboembolism in the lower extremities after coronary bypass surgery. Materials and Methods: The research was carried out in a public hospital cardiovascular service. The population of the study consisted of 105 patients who were operated in the cardiovascular surgery clinic. 42 patients were included in the experimental group and 42 patients in the control group according to the sample selection in groups with a certain population. Data were collected with Patient Information Form, Laboratory Evaluation Form, Venous Circulation Evaluation Form, Wearing Compression Elastic Stocking Evaluation Form. Video-assisted training was given to the experimental group, and the training that existed in the clinical routine was delivered to the control group. Results: As a result of the examination, the sociodemographic characteristics of the patients and the differences between the groups were not found statistically significant (p>0.05). When the surgical histories of the patients and the presence of additional disease were examined, it was determined that they were similar and homogeneity was achieved between the groups (p>0.05). It was determined that there was no significant difference in the patients' blood pressure, pulse, saturation, hemoglobin, erythrocyte, blood sugar, triglyceride, cholesterol, LDL, WBC, Plt, INR, CZ, PZ (p>0.05). There was no redness, pain or burning in the extremities of the patients in the experimental group (p0.05).
