Optimizing the Diagnostic Performance of Preoperative Ultrasound Examination of Parotid Gland Tumors Through Qualitative Assessment of Contrast-Enhanced Sonography

Introduction Ultrasound (US) is considered the imaging method of choice in the diagnosis of parotid gland tumors (PGT). Although PGT are mostly benign, malignant transformation is possible even in benign tumors. For this reason, surgical removal is preferred. Since the surgical treatment strategy differs in terms of radicality between benign and malignant PGT, an optimal preoperative assessment of malignancy is important. The aim of this prospective study was to improve the diagnostic performance of PGT-US through qualitative analysis of multiparametric US (mpUS).
