摘要
During the growing season, sugar beet gets infested with various leaf spot pathogens, the most important of which are Cercospora beticola and Ramularia betae. Another leaf spot pathogen, Stemphylium beticola, has been reported in Europe and Stemphylium vesicarium in the USA. When heavily infested, the outer leaves of sugar beet die, the assimilation area and sugar content are reduced. The source of infection is infested plant debris, some weeds and seeds, and during the growing season the pathogen spreads through conidia carried by wind and wind -driven rain. Optimum conditions for infection and development of the pathogen are high humidity or leaf wetness and temperatures between 13 - 28 oC. In the Czech Republic, the Stemphylium beticola pathogen is not monitored and therefore protection against it is not implemented; in Europe, fungicides with the active ingredient difenoconazole are recommended
