Exchanges through furniture: state of knowledge on the early Middle Ages in Brittany
ANNALES DE BRETAGNE ET DES PAYS DE L OUEST(2023)
Abstract
Despite the increase in excavations relating to the early medieval period, it is still difficult, given the state of the available and accessible documentation, to quantify the place, share and influence of trade in the Armorican peninsula through the material culture of that period. The objects relating to this period are in fact still few in number. However, if the subject is broadened by including ancient sources in the census and by going back to the establishment of some of these trade currents from the High Middle Ages onwards, some data is beginning to emerge, which we will try to highlight during this presentation.
