Development of Bivalent Inactivated Oil-Emulsion Vaccine Against Pigeon Paramyxovirus Disease.

Pigeon paramyxovirus disease is a highly contagious disease which causes heavy threat to pigeon industry.To prevent pigeon paramyxovirus disease effectively,bivalent inactivated oil-emulsion vaccine was developed with the mixture of Newcastle disease virus from chiken and pigeon paramyxovirus type 1(JB virus strain).The safety,immune efficiency,immune period and storage period of the vaccine were also tested.The results showed that the vaccine was safe for pigeons without adverse reaction.After injection,HI antibody against the virus appeared just one week later,reached the maximum four weeks later,and lasted for six months.After immunization for 21 d,60 d,120 d and 180 d,the pigeons were challenged with F48E9 virus strain and JB virus strain respectively,and the percentage of protection reached over 80%,while the control pigeons all died.High immune antibody titers coud be detected in pigeons after immunized with vaccine stored at 2-8 ℃ for 12 months.
