Physical Disabilities

Adolescents with physical disabilities face unique challenges associated with impairments and with how society views them. In general, their experiences and feelings are more similar to their peers than dissimilar when they live in an equitable society that provides adequate access, support, and care. Naturally, each adolescent needs to be considered as an individual whose identity is influenced by factors such as type of disability, gender, socioeconomic status, and ethnicity. This article addresses such contextual issues and discusses the impact of external events, such as the Paralympics and the COVID 19 pandemic. Different research methodological approaches are also evaluated.
