Mal sechs, mal sieben: Die Reaktion von Corannulen mit 35 Äquivalenten 1,4-C4F8I2 führt recht selektiv zu zwei Hauptprodukten, in denen sechs H-Atome durch drei C4F8-Einheiten substituiert sind, die sechs- und siebengliedrige Ringe bilden. Tieftemperatur-Photoelektronenspektroskopie zufolge hat das Hauptisomer (siehe Struktur) eine höhere Elektronenaffinität als C60 (2.74±0.02 bzw. 2.689±0.008 eV).
