A Protection Scheme Based on Multi-Granularity Connection Resource Sharing in Optical Networks

摘要
The Optical Service Unit (OSU) technology enables the optical transport networks to guarantee deterministic transmission for services, and the OSU protection scheme (OSU-P) can avoid resource wasting compared to traditional ones. However, how to design network protection strategies to avoid an excessive number of OSU connections while ensuring efficient service recovery is a crucial issue. This paper proposes a multi-granularity connection resource sharing protection scheme (MUGP) in optical networks. Compared to the maximum initial reserved bandwidth method, the average blocking rate can be reduced by 1.5%, average resource utilization can be saved by 5.5%, and the average failure recovery failure rate can be reduced by 3.4%. Compared to the minimum initial reserved bandwidth method, the bandwidth adjustment rate can be reduced by 27%.
