There continues to be a significant burden of disease and substantial resource implications associated with fractures following total joint arthroplasty. Achieving consensus opinions regarding the prevention and treatment of this problem has important implications given the profound effect on patient outcomes. Multidisciplinary care in the preoperative and postoperative settings is critical, with a specific focus on bone health.
