Order Plecoptera

In the Mediterranean region, 419 species of stoneflies (Plecoptera), belonging to 34 genera and seven families, have been reported. This chapter introduces ecological information related to the Mediterranean stonefly nymphs and presents family and genera keys for their identification. It also provides brief descriptions of the main morphological characteristics needed for their identification and the methodology for collecting, preparing, preserving, and studying them.
