The Quilombola Perspective in Brazil Regarding Public Policies and Government Actions

The history of quilombos is contextualized, revealing the impact of contact with colonial society on their formations and identities, and today these communities face numerous challenges. This work is an exploratory and descriptive study that addresses the challenges faced by contemporary quilombola communities in Brazil. The importance of public policies in integrating academic and popular knowledge is emphasized, empowering these communities and strengthening their historical, cultural, and legal territories. The research is based on reliable bibliographic sources and official government data. To address these issues, public policies such as the Brazil Quilombola Program have been pointed out to promote access to government policies for quilombola communities. Users' lack of knowledge should not be used against them, as it is the responsibility of the State to ensure transparency and adequate access to public policies. In conclusion, it is crucial that public policies be accessible to the community with clear and understandable information for the users.
