Immigration and Cultural Stressors and Their Impact on Mental Health Outcomes
Elsevier eBooks(2023)
摘要
Immigration continues to be a prevalent process that impacts children and adolescent development. The context of the immigration experience, from pre-immigratory factors in the heritage country, to the in-transit journey, and lastly, settlement factors, are conduits of both challenges and opportunities for children and adolescent. From a risk and resiliency perspective, the immigration experience exposes youth to unique stressors and cultural assets. This chapter provides an overview of cultural stressors and assets and their association with mental health outcomes.
