Termination

Management literature uses different terms for exit from the employment relationship, depending on the legislative framework and employment practices in different countries. Some terms are common, however. A voluntary termination is when someone leaves a job on their own accord through resignation or retirement, whereas an involuntary termination is when the employee has no choice in the matter and leaves - being fired, subjected to layoff or compulsory retirement. There are also exits resulting from life events such as death in service, or poor health. The termination of employment in the world of spies can be similar to, and (sometimes) drastically different from termination in standard organizations.
