Exfoliative Dermatitis Associated with Hair Abnormalities

Exfoliative dermatitis may appear in the context of various disorders. We report a case of diffuse erythema and circular scaling on the skin in a female patient with a history of erythroderma since infancy. She also presented sparse, lusterless and brittle hair on the scalp, and loss of the outer part of the eyebrow. Optical microscopy analysis of the hair revealed specific hair follicle alterations. Based on history, clinical findings and microscopic analysis, the diagnosis of Netherton’s syndrome was made.
