44222 Primary Cutaneous Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma: Report of a Rare Tumor with Review of the Literature

Background: A 53 year-old female presented with a 1-year history of a nodule on left parietal scalp. Physical examination revealed a 1cm subcutaneous nodule, with no overlying surface change. The lesion was presumed to be a cyst and treatment options included observation versus excision. The patient initially opted for observation, but returned 33 months later due to persistent enlargement. Punch biopsy revealed variably-sized cribriform nests of basaloid cells with abundant dermal mucin.
