A major paraneoplastic leukemoid reaction

We present here the case of a patient with squamous cell carcinoma who presented with a massive neutrophilic leucocytosis, accompanied with mild signs of dysmyelopoeisis. We ruled out multiple aetiologies and we finally hypothesized a paraneoplastic leukemoid reaction, which is a rather classical haematological disorder. This observation highlights the fact that the neutrophilic count can reach enormous rates in paraneoplastic leukemoid reaction.
