Abstract
Abstract Nonlocal interactions of plasmonic nanostructures are currently beingintensively investigated. It is generally accepted that nonlocal interactionsare most pronounced on structures with nanometer unit sizes andaffect the shape of spectral functions of characterizing quantities in theresonance region. Numerical analysis of nonlocal phenomena is very complicatedand it is advantageous to use it for the analysis of geometricallymore complex structures. For some simple structures it is possible to findanalytical solutions which can then be used, among other purposes, tobuild semi-analytical approaches for the analysis of some more complexstructures. This article is focused on the efficient description of nonlocalmanifestations of a planar metal layer using a hydrodynamic model. Thismodel is further extended to the more general case of two adjacent nonlocallayers (bilayers). The results for both single layer and bilayer case arepresented and discussed in detail. Also, one of the here presented importanttechnical results are the transfer matrices for the nonzero normalcomponent of the current densities at the interfaces of the metal layer.
