Abstract
Presupposition is an important component of the semantic structure of verbs. This paper makes a systematic analysis of the mechanism of presupposition in the semantic structure of Russian verbs, based on an examination of verbs of emotion, factivity, nonfactivity, performativity, judgment and verbs of heterogeneous action set. This new perspective will, hopefully, shed some light on the semantics of verbs.
