A method for detection and parameter inversion of ocean eddies in SAR images

The complex ocean eddies have the characteristics of low signal-to-noise ratio, unclear edges, and large shape differences, but they are of great significance for marine research and underwater target detection. Therefore, they are divided into two categories, one is a regular eddy that can be approximated as a logarithmic spiral, and the other is a local regular eddy that can be approximated as an arc. For the two types of eddies, a method based on helix matching and a method based on arc detection and processing are respectively proposed. Finally, it has been verified on GF-3, ERS-2 satellite radar data and airborne radar data, with good detection results.
