Assessing the Impact of Oil Saturation on Wormhole Morphology in Carbonate Acidizing

•We conducted multiple experiments involving acid injection in carbonate outcrops at various flow rates.•Our results indicate that the presence of oil saturation has a significant effect on reactive flow in carbonates.•Oil saturation typically reduces PVbt in carbonate acidizing treatments.•The impact of oil saturation is affected by the flow rate used during acid injection.•We utilized microCT to assess changes in wormhole morphology resulting from the acidizing treatments.
