Development of climate-based thermal comfort ranges from existing data: Analysis of the Smart Controls and thermal comfort (SCATS) database

•Cumulative logistic regression statistical model was applied to the Smart Controls and Thermal Comfort (SCATS) database.•The model highlights that the variable “country” has a statistically significant impact on the reported thermal feelings.•Users in different countries respond differently to standardized (EN 16798) indoor environmental quality scenarios.•The model predicts different optimum temperatures for thermal feeling and thermal preference according to the country.
