摘要

•New, fully halogenated derivatives of 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)benzothiazole have been synthesized and characterized.•These compounds act as ligands for Zn2+ to form tetrahedral complexes with luminescence in the visible range.•Use of octafluoronaphthalene as a starting material leads regioselectively to angular naphtho[2,1-d]thiazoles.
