Abstract
A 10-month-old, female, neutered Rottweiler was referred for further investigation of lifelong urinary incontinence. On abdominal ultrasonography, the urinary bladder was empty with asymmetrical wall thickening. Cystoscopy revealed a wide and short tubular connection from the vestibule to a poorly distensible bladder, with no distinct identifiable urethral papilla or urethra. The ureters were observed opening into what was thought to be the bladder trigone, but a third opening was additionally noted cranial to the ureterovesical junctions. A hypoplastic urethra and a stenotic vaginal opening were found on a fluoroscopic retrograde vaginourethrocystogram. Histopathology of bladder wall biopsies revealed mild neutrophilic inflammation. The urinary incontinence was attributed to a combination of severe anatomic abnormalities. No treatment was pursued.
