Birdstrike Analysis of the Flap Driving Parts Considering Effects of Bird Geometry and SPH(Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics) Parameters

This paper presents birdstrike analyses of the flap driving part. For accurate simulations, a SPH (Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics) bird model considering realistic geometry was established and SPH parameters were optimized. Then, the most vulnerable situation in the driving part of the flap was investigated based on the maximum internal energy of the driving part. In general, SPH analysis with a simple bird model shows limitations in accuracy, compared with actual experimental results. In this study, not only are the displacements and stresses at the collision spot analyzed but also is the stress and plastic deformation in the driving part of the flap investigated using the SPH model with realistic bird geometry.
