Dual-Band Single-Layer Frequency Selective Surface for Millimeter-Wave 5G Applications

摘要
This contribution presents the design of a dual-band frequency selective surface (FSS) for millimeter-wave 5G applications in the 28 and 39 GHz bands. The FSS consists of a single dielectric layer with printed elements on its bottom face. The spectral response of the FSS is characterized by two reflection bands at 28 and 39 GHz, and it presents a stable performance under oblique incidence angles of up to 45 degrees. The FSS also supports operation in dual-linear polarization, due to the twofold-symmetric pattern of the printed elements. The proposed FSS has a great potential to be used in millimeterwave 5G networks as part of dual-band Intelligent Reflecting Surfaces (IRS), which can be formed by combining in the same panel the proposed FSS and a dual-band reflectarray.
