Clinical Efficacy of Benazepril for the Treatment of Diabetic Nephropathy

Objective To study the clinical effects of benazepril in treating diabetic nephropathy(DN) and to improve the efficacy of DN treatment.Methods A total of 136 DN patients were enrolled at our hospital from July 2008 to August 2010 and were randomly divided into benazepril treatment group(observation group) and valsartan treatment group(control group),including 68 patients per group.After the 8-week treatment,all patients were evaluated and assessed.Results The therapeutic outcomes were determined as markedly effective in 39 patients,effective in 25,and ineffective in 4 for the observation group,respectively,with an overall effective rate of 94.1%.In contrast,those were 31,26,and 11 for the control group,respectively,with an overall effective rate of 83.8%(P0.01).Both blood pressure and 24-hour proteinuria were improved against the baseline in the two groups,whereas they were more significant in the observation group(both P0.01).Light-headedness occurred in two patients and cough in one patient for the observation group,whereas light-headedness in one patient and diarrhea in one patient for the control group(P0.05).Conclusion Benazepril is an ideal treatment for DN and worthy of clinical use.
