A Tool for Monitoring Soil Hydrothermal Regimes

An instrument developed for measuring soil moisture and temperature profiles (Soil Moisture And Temperature meter-SMAT-meter) to a depth of 50 cm is described. The instrument is equipped with a solar battery and a data transmission system via a cellular network. The equipment is designed for automatic monitoring of the hydrothermal regime of soil in forest or rural areas, as well as in the areas close to the industrial or transport infrastructure.
