Recent biomedical advancements in graphene oxide and future perspectives

摘要
New type of materials (carbon nanomaterials, polymers, micelles, liposomes) have been recognized worldwide as carrier vehicles for the pre & PRIME;cised delivery of drugs, biomolecules, and chemicals to the target cells. Among the materials, Graphene Oxide (GO) is a 2D material having distinctive physio-chemical properties through ease of surface functionalization with DNA/RNA, proteins, genes, drugs, chemicals, ligands, and hormones. The GO effectively targets and specifically delivers drugs into the cells with high efficacy and efficiency. Nowadays, nanomedicine is exponentially increasing in infectious/noninfectious disease management; henceforth understanding the conceptualization of GO nanostructures is indeed for the researchers to apply in the medicinal sectors. Therefore, the present research sketches out the recent update in GO for the sustainable delivery of drugs for disease management. This work will be benefitted to the researchers/scientists who aspire to develop graphene-based materials for the treatment of infectious/noninfectious diseases.
