Abstract
Aim: We investigated mutations in the BCP/PC regions and liver stiffness in three generations of hepatitis B (HBV) patients. Methods: In this study, viral load, liver function tests and liver stiffness (LSM) were examined in 90 chronic HBV patients, and BCP/PC regions were amplified by PCR. Results: There was no statistically significant difference between G1896 mutation and DNA level in any of the groups. The results indicated that G1896A and G1764A were the most frequent mutations in three generations (mothers; 33.4%), and in children (two generations; 45%). Conclusion: The three- (four cases) and two-generation (six patients) groups had similar mutations. Together with LSM outcomes, this may play a crucial part in the natural course of HBV infection.
