Quality of Service Enhancement of Circular Microstrip Patch Antenna (CMPA) for 5G Communication Network

Abstract Due to small shape, compact size and easy fabrication, Microstip patch antennas (MPA) are prominently used in various domains and play a vital role in communication world. The characteristic disadvantage of the Microstip patch antenna (MPA) is its Narrow Bandwidth and low gain which is not suitable for 5G communication. To enhance the bandwidth and gain, a novel design of circular microstrip Patch antenna(CMPA) is proposed in this work. For overcome this problem it is tried to introduce a circular patch on FR-4 substrate material (_r = 4.4) also known as circular Microstip patch array, where the circular patch has a circular slot etched into it for wideband service. It has been designed and simulated with dielectric substrates (Rogers 5880) that have the dielectric constant of 2.2 with 1.5 mm height, using the High Frequency Structural Simulation (HFSSTM) tool, which is based on the Finite Element Method (FEM). The antenna has been design to work at 5.8GHz which solves the problem of narrow bandwidth. In addition to this proposed antenna gain also increase to 7.876 dB by introducing circular Microstrip patch, indicate that the gain of overall performance has been enhanced. The proposed antenna has been designed and tested for an operating frequency of 5.8GHz which is used for Wi-Fi communication and 5G networking all over the world.
