Pesticides as theme for Teaching Organic Chemistry: An Experience with the Case Study Method in Regular High School.The teaching of chemistry has a fundamental role to broaden the horizons of the students so that they can interpret and intervene in an ethical and sustainable way in the reality around them.In this sense, classroom practices that make the student more critical and reflective are necessary.This work aimed to report an experience with the use of the case study method (EC) with the theme pesticides making more evident the relationship between chemistry and the environment, contributing to the potentially significant chemistry teaching.The results showed that students began to correctly conceptualize pesticides, reflected on their application and about sustainable alternatives to their use.This context was used to learn about organic compounds -structure and physicochemical properties.In addition, they were able to train argumentation skills, teamwork, problem solving and take a critical stand on the use of pesticides and alternatives such as organic foods and biopesticides.
