Carbon dots (C-dots): fluorescence processes and bioimaging

Herein, we collate recent advances in carbon dots–mediated (C-dots) emissive processes and related theories. Surface effects and engineering, as well as the results over the fluorescence emission, are also disclosed. A few works highlighting the efforts to elucidate and tune both the emissive processes and the C-dots (and derivatives) application in bioimaging experiments in live cells are also described herein.
