Optimization Strategy of Roadside Unit Coverage in Vehicular Ad Hoc Network Based on Particle Swarm Optimization

In order to overcome the problem of blind coverage and resource waste caused by overlapping coverage in roadside unit (RSU) coverage in Vehicle Ad-hoc Network (VANET), a roadside unit coverage optimization method based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) was proposed in this paper. This method maximizes the network coverage with less RSUs on the premise of ensuring the service quality. Taking effective coverage of network as the optimization objective, particle swarm optimization algorithm combined with crossover strategy of genetic algorithm was adopted to avoid global falling into local optimum, and the influence of perception radius on coverage ability was analyzed in detail. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has some advantages in improving network coverage and effectively achieves global optimization of RSU layout in Vehicle Ad Hoc Network.
