Fast Frequency Response Control Strategy of High-Proportion Distributed Photovoltaic Power Generation

With the increasing penetration of renewable energy, high-proportion photovoltaic (PV) integrated into distributed system is one of the typical scenarios. Due to large-scale distributed PV power, the primary frequency regulation (PFR) capability of the power system tends to weaken gradually. To improve this, it is necessary to improve the PFR capability of distributed PV power. In this paper, the related standards and technical requirements of fast frequency response for distributed PV power are introduced firstly. Secondly, the PFR control modes of PV generation are described, including centralized control mode and distributed control mode. Finally, the necessity of optimizing the PFR parameters is analyzed, and a scheme of setting parameters according to the PFR control mode of PV unit is proposed. Simulation results show that the proposed strategy improves the system frequency characteristics effectively.
