Multiple Wells on A Cmos-Mea for Cell-Based Biohybrid Odorant Sensors

This paper demonstrates a method to construct multiple wells on a CMOS microelectrode array (MEA). CMOS-MEA is featured with high-spatial resolution and high sensitivity and can be used to electronically detect cell signals. By adhering to a 3D-printed multiple-well frame on the CMOS-MEA using uncured PDMS glue, no leakage was found between the wells. After seeding the olfactory receptor-expressing cells on the CMOS-MEA, we detected the electrical signal triggered by odorant molecules. In addition, a separate observation of cell signaling was achieved in our proposed multiple wells. With this approach, different types of cells can be seeded on a CMOS-MEA separately for the sensing of odorant molecules.
