A KPIs Evaluation for Converter Response to Faults in Grid-Connected Configuration

In the new energy scenario, energy production from power electronics has a central role in interfacing renewables and energy storage systems with an external grid. Despite the undoubted advantages of these generating units, some drawbacks can be highlighted and one of them is the response to a fault. This paper proposes a KPIs evaluation for converter response to faults in Grid-Connected configuration. The commonly used converter control structures, after a detailed description, are compared during a fault event with simulations in the dedicated simulation software Simulink/Simscape to define a golden standard that can be the reference point for comparing new control techniques for the management of faults events.
