摘要
Tourism is believed to provide around 11% contribution to the world economy, but it is found to create just around 6% of total CO2 in the atmosphere, despite the fact that 50 to 60% of carbon emissions are associated with this industry indirectly. To assess the impact of sustainable and responsible tourism on local development in the community of Karongi, Western Province of Rwanda, and in order to determine the renewable energy resources’ (solar and hydropower) potential, an environmentally friendly tourism alternative is proposed. A quantitative technique was utilized in this study, with 265 area inhabitants completing a survey to determine their opinions on the idea. Furthermore, the potential for solar and hydroelectric energy was assessed in order to uncover durable options that the community may integrate into their own businesses and endeavors. There is a correlation between eco - tourism and economic growth, according to the research findings. Additionally, the evaluation of renewable energy resources potential reveals that it is feasible in this region.
