RESEARCH UNITS IN BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTION PARENT TRAINING (RUBI PT) FOR YOUNG CHILDREN WITH ASD AND MILD-TO-MODERATE DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIORS

Objectives1) Audiences will learn about basic principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) on which Research Units in Behavioral Intervention Parent Training (RUBI PT) was developed. 2) Audiences will learn how RUBI PT is structured. 3) Audiences will get a basic sense of how RUBI PT is delivered in a clinical setting. 4) Audiences will learn about the current evidence supporting RUBI PT.MethodsThis presentation will include: 1) a handout; 2) a lecture with video clips; and 3) a live demonstration of a RUBI PT session and role-playing.ResultsIn this course, we will provide audiences with in-depth educational experiences on RUBI PT. We will provide didactics, video clips, live demonstration and role-playing of a RUBI PT session, and educational handouts. Topics will include basic principles of ABA, emphasizing the antecedent-behavior-consequence model, prevention strategies, reinforcement, and planned ignoring. We will review how RUBI PT is structured, and audiences will have the opportunity to experience how a RUBI PT session (Prevention Strategies) is conducted.
