摘要
To report a case of co-occurrence of Orbital Myositis with Optic Neuritis in a patient subsequently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Case report and literature review. In this article we report the interesting case of a young woman who had three hospitalizations, initially for left sided orbital myositis, followed by right sided optic neuritis a few months later. She also reported abdominal pain and bloody stools during her last hospital stay, and was subsequently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis as well as Crohn's disease and started on disease modifying treatment. To the best of our knowledge, this is the third case to describe the co-occurrence of optic euritis with orbital yositis and the only case to describe the co-occurrence of orbital myositis, optic neuritis and Crohn's disease. In patients presenting with ocular symptoms without a primary ophthalmologic cause, a careful history and focused examination can help localize the disease process to the optic nerve or orbit. Neurologists should be aware of specific differentiating clinical features that will aid in this process.
