Connector configuration effect on the dynamic characteristics of multi-modular floating structure

•The effect of connector topology on the dynamic characteristic of modular floating structure is experimentally investigated.•Dynamic response mechanism of floating structure coupled with different types of connector is revealed.•The connector providing constraints in all degrees of freedom generally delivers superior performance for the dynamic stability of floating platform.
