We evaluate the role of transponders-muxponders (Xponders) and ZR+-pluggable interfaces in metro and core networks beyond 400Gb/s across 3-metro and 3-core topologies. The stochastic study computes hardware-count and overbuilds with Xponders resulting in lowest counts. (C) 2022 The Author(s).
