Abstract
Diabetic cardiomyopathy is characterised by diastolic dysfunction, linked with metabolic disturbance. Hyperfructosaemia has been reported in diabetic patients but whether cardiac fructose is linked to cardiac pathology is unknown. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of cardiac fructose in the development of diabetic cardiomyopathy.
