The USACE is currently conducting a remedial action (RA) to remove MEC from two munitions response sites, with the use of Advanced Geophysical Classification (AGC) in accordance with the Decision Document. This RA comprises approximately 200 acres, most of which are heavily wooded, and includes the following anticipated targets of interest (TOI): 37, 75 and 155mm projectiles, and 60 and 81mm mortars. This work is being performed under contract to USA Environmental, Inc., and their DAGCAP subcontractor, Parsons. The RA includes dynamic EM61-MK2, cued MetalMapper 2×2 and intrusive investigation of TOI. While this is an ongoing project, many lessons can be drawn from the challenges faced to date and the results of the intrusive investigation so far.
