摘要

•Oxidation of methanol on Pt(111) was studied by in situ XPS and PM-IRRAS.•CO2, formaldehyde, and methyl formate were detected as products in the gas phase.•Adsorbed methyl formate, CO, formates, carbonates, and carbon atoms were detected on platinum.•The reaction mechanism of the oxidation of methanol is discussed.
