Ep433: Nephrologists’ Views on Return of Genetic Results to Research Participants
Genetics in medicine(2022)
摘要
Returning genetic results from research (RoR) to research participants is increasingly expected from research studies. In the absence of guidelines, ethical and practical challenges are likely to arise, especially among non-genetic clinical specialists who were not involved in the study. The issue of RoR from research has particular relevance for nephrology, a medical field serving a disproportional high number of racial and ethnic minorities. Although genetic testing is increasingly utilized in nephrology, RoR from research—which may include uncertain, probabilistic, and “incidental” or secondary findings—may be viewed differently.
